North American Kestrel Portrait 1

Huntley Meadows Park - Alexandria, Virginia
October 16th, 2016
I was with a small group of photographers at Huntley Meadows photographing birds of prey that had been brought in for educational purposes. For this shot, I got in as far as my telephoto lens would allow and was able to grab this capture. I love the way this North American Kestrel is looking towards the ground, almost like he is deep in thought. These raptors are beautiful birds and the closeup shot allowed the image to show great detail and color in the bird's feathers.

I am in my 50's and happily married with 5 daughters from our blended family. I became interested in photography just a few short years ago, much later in life than many but my passion is strong. I started out experimenting with scenic mountain shots, landscapes, flowers and anything nature as being outside is where I am happiest.
